What is Constructive Rest? Constructive Rest is a gentle, guided lying‑down practice from the Alexander Technique. It helps your body release tension, settle your nervous system and restore natural ease. Many people feel calmer, clearer and more grounded after just 20-30 minutes.

Do I need any experience with Alexander Technique? No experience is needed. This session is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with an existing practice. You can simply follow along and let your body unwind.

What do I need to take part? All you need is a comfortable surface to lie on, such as a yoga mat, carpet or firm bed, plus a few paperback books or a folded towel to support your head. Wear whatever helps you feel warm and comfortable.

Will I be visible on camera? You’re welcome to keep your camera on or off. Many people choose to turn it off so they can settle more fully. You’ll still receive the full benefit of the guided practice.

What will I feel afterwards? Most people report feeling more rested, spacious and at ease. Some notice easier breathing, less muscular tension or a clearer mind. The effects can be subtle or surprisingly profound.

Will the session be recorded? Yes. The session will be recorded and the audio‑only version will be sent to everyone who signs up. You can revisit the practice whenever you like, or enjoy it later if you can’t attend live.

Lucy Ascham has over 2 decades of personal and professional practice as an Alexander Technique practitioner, and will guide the session. It’s likely you will feel more rested, have a better sense of your body and energy levels after this. Making this a regular practice can bring great benefits to your body, brain and well being.

The simplicity of lying relatively still, whilst staying alert and thinking in a particular way, can bring unexpected relief to aches and pains and stress.
