Meet Lucy

Why I do

To be able to help people overcome personal challenges and live a healthier, happier life is the best feeling in the world. And it’s why I am so passionate about what I do.

My first encounter with The Alexander Technique was as a music student with debilitating stage fright. Using its principles I was able to master my fear and overcome it completely, which was what first encouraged me to use it to help others.

Similarly, having experienced the profound power of Family and Systematic Constellation Work first-hand I felt I must give others the same insight and strength it gave me.

Because it would be no exaggeration to say that my first experience of it affected me in the most positive of ways and changed my entire perspective on life. I am aware of how monumental that sounds – but I have chosen my words carefully and I mean what I say.

I have helped thousands of people find and maintain balance in their lives and relationships. Let me help you do the same.

What my clients

"No pain in the night, no pain when I got up, no pain when I went for a run and no pain now! It’s much more than I expected, thank you!"
"I have now attended three of Lucy’s weekends for Alexander Technique teachers. I have found them to be helpful on a couple of levels. First, for me personally, it has been wonderfully nurturing and nourishing to receive and give work in such a supportive, caring and non-judgmental environment. Second, each time I have learned new activities and ways of thinking and approaching our work, which I can bring into my own practice. Lucy creates the perfect space to explore and learn together, as well as the opportunity to get to know one another socially. I cannot recommend these weekends highly enough and am looking forward eagerly to the next time I have the opportunity to attend."

“I feel present. Nice to feel here, not racing ahead. I have a more measured, calm approach. I’m less reactive and am learning to look after myself and choose my responses.”
“The Alexander Technique was recommended to me when I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder. Lucy’s tuition has been key in getting me back to full-time work. Using these techniques has helped me reduce the day-to-day tension I’ve developed over a lifetime of anxious habits and hypersensitivity. It’s been amazing to re-learn how my body works, and how to swap out the survival mechanisms that got me so far, for habits more in keeping with how my body is happier to work. I’ve noticed more ease in my movements. I really enjoy the regular session; I’ve been better coping with anxiety, have less pain and feel more awake. Lucy is great and has helped me feel safe in what could be a vulnerable environment, she is both calming and great fun. I always leave my sessions happier and having learned something useful. Very much recommend for anyone.”

Annabel had online sessions presenting with persistent neck pain, after breast surgery from cancer. She mentioned she felt strangled, just like her grandfather. I helped her see the unconscious patterns and release them with love.

“Lucy’s sessions are amazing. Her unique blend of skills helped me have good posture without effort. Before this I had seen many physiotherapists and osteopaths but the pain kept coming back within a few weeks, Even after my first session with Lucy the difference was so clear that my friends commented on it. After several months the effects are being maintained with her support.”
"I've just had two enjoyable and useful sessions with Lucy on Zoom. I had been doubtful about how it would work but I was pleased with how it went. Of course, nothing is as good as face-to-face but we are where we are and this was great and has helped me to progress as I had hoped. Thank you. Looking forward to the next ones!"
"I really enjoyed attending 2 workshops led by Lucy recently. Lucy has the Alexander technique in her bones – she exemplifies what we try to teach in the technique – a light sense of open uprightness, an embodied sense of calm and an ability to respond to the need of the moment in an effortless way. She is able to communicate the important principles of the technique to a group with a practical approach – using simple, easy to understand language, responding to the experiences of the group and guiding people through a number of powerful exercises. It was wonderful to see how people changed over the course of 60-90 minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 workshops and would recommend Lucy to anyone curious about the Alexander technique."

“Balance is not a position! Now I’m not trying to straighten my spine through effort, it goes that way – its a big difference in my shoulder tension and breathing.”

“I’ve been doing the Alexander Technique with Lucy over the past few months and my posture has improved enormously. I have a greater awareness of how my body functions and can recognise the signs of when I’m falling into bad habits. Lucy has provided me with many useful tools as to how to deal with this and consequently I feel more relaxed.”

“No more turtle neck, or contracting when I’m cold – I can keep my length in my upper body, I’m not scrunching my neck. I’m learning to trust my body and the support of gravity. It’s so much easier.”
Cyclist / IT Specialist
“I had a traumatic accident a few years ago. After you ‘wriggled’ my head it felt weird – and really good. I could walk evenly for the first time in years!! I’m making friends with my body.”
Martha came to me hoping to improve her self-esteem around family relationships which were a sore subject to them after childhood trauma. With my help she began to see larger factors contributing to the dynamics in her family and what their impact has been on the individuals involved.

‘It is as though I have been gifted an entirely new lens through which to view human behaviour, and it is a lens of compassion and empathy like no other. Due to this, I have been able to come to terms with the way my family operates, which has proven to be a great relief. I would definitely recommend working with Lucy. She held such a safe space for me and my vulnerability with great compassion and authenticity.”

The issue she struggled with didn’t start with her. I helped her take responsibility for her share of what happened, and release the rest and so free up her energy and move forwards in life.
