May I explain?

Recently, I shared a little about my own healing journey from various traumas. And how over 3 decades since my mum died, I have tried and tested many therapies and alternative practices. All have been useful.

I’d say each has had its place, and use in my life.

The three that have been the longest serving for me, and which I use in my daily work are :

  • the Alexander Technique, which I came across as a nervous music student back in 1990
  • Family & Systemic Constellations which I first learned about in 2000
  • Resonance for Healing – which my brain and being have healed and learned alongside my teacher, and the person who has developed this work – Sarah Peyton.

I’ve had some of you reach out with questions, so if I may just answer a few here from you all to hear.

I can and already do offer each of these modalities as separate tools in private sessions and group workshops, in person and online.

I can and do already offer each of these at the same £79 per private session. You may book one or two hour sessions in a row.

Remember my experience with the garage recently when they replaced my bulb and burnt wiring for £9.99 plus £45 plus VAT?

They didn’t charge a different rate for labour under the bonnet, with the wiring, under the axel – its one rate, one labour charge. Same here.

It would get awfully complicated if I tried to put a value on just Alexander or just Constellations or just Resonance.

All the 34 years of experience I have had as a personal client of this work, years of training and 20+ years as a practitioner feed into and contributes to my ability to share what I’ve learned along the way and serve you.

I don’t profess to know which tools I want the car mechanic to use. I don’t want to limit them to only the blue tools, or those with rounded edges – and nor do I wish to limit the range of tools at my disposal to work with you in whatever ways I think may be most useful in the moment and appropriate to what you bring to the session, to the moment.

So it goes for you and me.

I’m exploring sharing the total general work I offer as: Lucy Ascham, Pain and Trauma Facilitation. Does this tell you what I do in my global offering?

Does it describe what issues I work with? neck, knees, ancestors, longings, belonging issues, grief, trauma, injury and illness, recovery, restoration, rest, relationship, abuse, financial abuse, motherhood, pregnancy legacy, birth trauma, loss, baby loss, family, sibling rivalry, power struggles, imbalances, unfairness, the trauma of parent’s lineage, our connection with our wider family, our relationship to land, country, source…

I’m trying to give a general flavour of the golden thread that is pain and trauma which runs through all the practices, and principles I work with.

All the people who have brought various issues to me.

And my personal wounds and pains of my childhood, 20s, 30s, pregnancy, childbirth, loneliness, hellish relationship breakdown, family court, a 9 year financial / legal battle to recover my money from a shared property, bereavement, financial hardship, self-employment, single parenting, covid complications, 2 auto immune disease diagnosiss in one year, the list continues. And so does my personal healing.

It’s only partly true.

As I see beauty in the simple everyday movements of life. I marvel at my body’s ability to heal and adapt and move and learn. I leak tears of mourning that my body isn’t perfect, it has been altered – changed – damaged by my journey of mothering. And I wouldn’t change a moment of it. I love walking and jogging in the wooded valley near me. I have great friends. I enjoy trips to the cinema. Walks on the beach. Meals out. Life is good! I have a body which moves well and I live well.

My love for my son is total. He has been worth every moment. I would do it all again for him to exist, just as he is. I accept Life at its true cost.

And my offer to you is only £79 per hour for a private one to one session – where I have all my tools and talents, skills and services available to attend to you,

in the moment,

just as you are.

To bring you warmth, curiosity, accompaniment, understanding, witnessing and healing for your brain, body and emotions for your healing.

I’m here with you.

I’m here for you.

I’m here and offer to be With you with whatever is going on for you now.

I do offer some programmes and packages for people wanting an all-inclusive 2, 4 or 6 month journey of support with weekly private sessions and attendance at any group workshops I’m offering during that time, and various resources and support in between sessions, if you think this would be useful for you during a particular time in your life.

And I also love to keep it open so you know I’m here for you, and at the end of each session I will offer to look at the calendar if you’d like another session. No pressure. No expectation.

Yes, from my years of working with 1000s of clients, I do think that for most people, a long-term self-commitment to ongoing work will bring about the best and lasting healing.

And I want you to be the one to decide when you come next too.

If you used to have sessions, I’m here.

If you’ve had one session and would like another, I’m here.

If you have had lots of sessions, not been for years and wonder if you are welcome – yes of course, I’m here.

You are always welcome to come back for a session, or series of sessions. Like an MOT or service, or to support you through a tough time.

If you’d like to discuss your particular situation, challenge or pain point – please call me 07949 522655 and we can have a chat and see how I might best be able to support you.

Would it be sweet to have someone to listen and be with you, not shy away, but lean in towards you, just as you are?

What My Clients Say

“No pain in the night, no pain when I got up, no pain when I went for a run and no pain now! It’s much more than I expected, thank you! "

"It is as though I have been gifted an entirely new lens through which to view human behaviour, and it is a lens of compassion and empathy like no other. Due to this, I have been able to come to terms with the way my family operates, which has proven to be a great relief. I would definitely recommend working with Lucy. She held such a safe space for me and my vulnerability with great compassion and authenticity."

"Using these techniques has helped me reduce the day-to-day tension I’ve developed over a lifetime of anxious habits and hypersensitivity. It’s been amazing to re-learn how my body works, and how to swap out the survival mechanisms that got me so far, for habits more in keeping with how my body is happier to work."

Alex Booer

“I’ve been doing the Alexander Technique with Lucy over the past few months and my posture has improved enormously. I have a greater awareness of how my body functions and can recognise the signs of when I’m falling into bad habits."

Paul Tolton, Actor

"I feel present. Nice to feel here, not racing ahead. I have a more measured, calm approach. I’m less reactive and am learning to look after myself and choose my responses.”

"I had a traumatic accident a few years ago. After you ‘wriggled’ my head it felt weird – and really good. I could walk evenly for the first time in years!! I’m making friends with my body.”

Zoe, Singer

"I have been happily surprised and have learned a lot about how my muscles and spine behave when I let them. I rapidly realised that AT is not in the least pseudoscience, rather it teaches one to be aware of how the body is holding itself."

Julian Davis, Retired Professor of Medicine & Pianist

"I've just had two enjoyable and useful sessions with Lucy on Zoom. I had been doubtful about how it would work but I was pleased with how it went. Of course, nothing is as good as face-to-face but we are where we are and this was great and has helped me to progress as I had hoped. Thank you. Looking forward to the next ones!"

"Lucy's sessions are amazing. Her unique blend of skills helped me have good posture without effort. Before this, I had seen many physiotherapists and osteopaths, but the pain kept coming back within a few weeks. Even after my first session with Lucy, the difference was so clear that my friends commented on it. After several months, the effects are being maintained with her support."
